Digicust: Automating Import Declarations from Export Declarations

In addition to automating import declarations from invoices, emails, and master data, Digicust also offers the capacity to automate import declarations using export declarations and the data processed through the earlier mentioned workflow. This article details this specific use-case, focusing on the technical elements to offer a clear understanding of the process.

Workflow

Here is a step-by-step breakdown of the process:

  1. Receipt of Export Declarations: A client submits export declarations to the Digicust platform. As with invoices, these can be forwarded in various digital formats such as PDF. The client could send several types of documents together, and Digicust efficiently handles them all at once.

  2. Intelligent Document Processing (IDP): Dexter IDP, the intelligent document processing solution by Digicust, comes into play upon receipt of these documents. Like a human declarant, the system reads and understands the information contained within the export declarations. It extracts critical data required for the import declarations, including product details, quantities, prices, and other relevant information.

  3. Tariff Classification: When necessary, Digicust can use its Taric system, an automated tariff classifier. Based on the product descriptions from the export declarations, the system determines the correct tariff numbers, ensuring precision in the classification process.

  4. Creation of Import Declaration: Once all the necessary data is extracted and classified, Digicust generates the import declaration. Its no-code automation platform enables the setting of custom rules, making the process flexible and adaptable to each client's unique requirements.

  5. Delivery: Upon completion, the import declaration is sent to the client's end system, enabling a smooth and seamless transfer of information for business continuity.

Conclusion

Digicust's ability to automate import declarations using export declarations and previously processed data significantly enhances business efficiency. By reusing data and employing intelligent document processing, the platform greatly reduces the time and effort involved in customs clearance. In the dynamic world of international trade, Digicust is pioneering a new era of digital customs clearance.
